Recycled Ocean Plastic Polyester – an eco-friendly plastic alternative

At A4Labels, sustainability has never been an afterthought.

As a business based on the South Coast of England, the health of our oceans has always mattered to us. It’s why we’re proud partners of Seven Clean Seas, donating 1% of every order to help remove plastic pollution from the ocean.

Now we’re taking another step.

Our Ocean Bound Recycled Plastic label material from our supplier UPM Raflatac allows businesses to choose labels made from plastic waste that has been collected from areas at risk of entering the ocean and transformed into high-quality label facestock.

The result is a premium label material that looks and performs like traditional plastic labels whilst helping support a more circular economy.

What is Ocean Bound Plastic?

Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is plastic waste collected from communities and coastlines where there is a high risk of it entering rivers and oceans.

Instead of becoming marine pollution, this material is recovered, sorted, cleaned and recycled into new products, including label materials.

By creating value for discarded plastic, Ocean Bound Plastic helps encourage collection infrastructure in vulnerable coastal regions whilst reducing the amount of plastic entering our seas.

Unlike plastic that has already reached the ocean, Ocean Bound Plastic can be recovered in much better condition, allowing it to be recycled into high-performance products with a significantly lower environmental impact.
