Since 1984, XYZ Machine Tools has grown from a 500 sq ft unit in Newton Abbot into the largest supplier of CNC machine tools in the UK. What started with founder Nigel Atherton fitting DROs and rebuilding used machines has become a business built around one control system that changed everything for us: ProtoTRAK®. When we discovered it in 1993, it took our sales from £3m to £15m in five years, and it remains at the heart of our range today.

We now operate from a 100,000 sq ft factory, showroom and stores in Burlescombe, Devon, supported by dedicated showrooms and service centres in the Midlands, Sheffield, Huddersfield and Livingston, plus a showroom in Zabrze, Poland as we build our European presence. Across our sites, more than 80 employees are committed to giving customers a genuinely complete service, not just a machine on a delivery truck.

Our range covers CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, machining centres, turning centres, five-axis machines and grinders, all built to work with the ProtoTRAK® touchscreen control, the easy to use system we designed from the ground up for small batch and prototype production. Program at the control in minutes, or offline in G-code with full CAD, DXF and Parasolid support.

Buying from us means buying more than a machine. Our nationwide field support network covers delivery and installation, training, service and support, and a free Programming Helpline for anyone who gets stuck mid-job. Our 18,000 sq ft UK Spares Department holds over £1.5 million of parts in stock, so downtime stays short. We also offer on-site demonstrations, bringing the ProtoTRAK® experience to your own workshop floor.
