Hessian sandbags are the longest used method of flood protection. They are still regarded as one of the most reliable method for keeping floodwater away from property to this day. Weir & Carmichael are proud to say we have been supplying hessian sandbags since 1955. We are also proud to be the sole suppliers to the Ministry of Defence. Two specifcations are avialbe from stock Product features 34x75cm (13x30”), 7oz hessian sandbag with tie string mouth. 9oz hessian as used by the British army - 36x84cm, heavy duty rot proofed hessian sandbag, Made to BS Standard 1214 : 1977. The rot proofing will extend the life in harsh weather conditions. Weir & Carmichael can also supply these filled and ready to send out for emergencies.
