Wood Mackenzie Case Study The Challenge Wagstaff were tasked with delivering an environmentally appropriate solution for the disposal of over 61 tonnes of redundant office furniture from their site in Edinburgh. The requirement was that the disposal should be of the highest environmental standards. Additional essential requirements were compliance conformity and a full audit trail, all packaged at a competitive cost. Wood Mackenzie were also eager for as much usable equipment as possible go to benefit schools and charities both in the UK and internationally. The Solution By choosing to utilise the Waste to Wonder Environmental Management Process (EMP), Wood Mackenzie were able to minimise their corporate waste and maximise charitable support as well as delivering on their CSR and environmental commitments. Customer Benefits Completed in one phase 61.06 tonnes of redundant furniture was removed from the Queen Street site. Wood Mackenzie benefited from a Carbon Saving Calculation of 45.36 tonnes, the equivalent of driving a car nearly half a million miles (482,952.95 miles, Source: Defra Medium Sized Petrol Car). Wood Mackenzie also received a charitable donation of equipment receipt of £26,350.00. This project not only demonstrates Wood Mackenzie’s commitment to their local environment but their on-going commitment to their corporate citizenship. Charitable Benefits The items redistributed from the Wood Mackenzie project have gone on to support Ruskin Junior School, Kingsdown School, Pewsey Vale School as well as Sheppey Valley CLP which supports 10 schools in Somerset. Items from the Wood Mackenzie project have been packed and palletised, ready for our shipment this month to the Sonibron Educational Trust Elmina, Ghana. The 40ft container will go to support, with the items going to benefit over 3000 people in over 10 schools across the region. This shipment would not have been possible without companies like Wood Mackenzie and Wagstaff, who are truly demonstrating their environmental and social commitments by working with Waste to Wonder.
