Unipart Rail get 2 for 1

Tractive Power, specialists in design and manufacture of electric tugs has recently delivered a TP500 Tractive unit into Unipart rail to aid their ever increasing work load. Unipart Rail provides a high-quality bogie overhaul service to customers from their purpose built base in Doncaster. Their expertise is expanding, to cover all bogie types working to the exacting standards and engineering specifications laid down by the industry. Unipart Rail contacted Tractive Power looking to resolve two materials handling issues. The first objective was to safely manoeuvre train bogie frames in and out of the paint spraying booth, and the second to move the fully assembled railed bogies in and out of the wash booth. The two very different applications meant that the versatility of the Tractive unit would be key. Using a simple pin attachment meant an additional coupling arrangement could be added on in seconds to change from one application to the other. After trialing several options Unipart's managers and workforce chose Tractive Power's electric tug to be the outstanding product. Dave Baines (Operations manager) commented" The easiest way for us to make a decision was to let the guys on the shop floor have the say. We operated a simple points scoring system, based on usability, functionality and simplicity in both applications. Our staff chose the Tractive Power unit unanimously." Chris Peach (Quality and Safety Manager) added, "It was a welcomed outcome by the management. We could see that the Tractive pusher was by far the best product. That, backed up by a first rate response meant we were more than happy with the final decision. The addition of the new unit means we have safer manual handling for our workforce and also helps with our extremely busy production schedules."
