Announcing our Microlift winner!
Giving something away is never easy. Especially a service lift! So at Stannah Microlifts we are absolutely delighted with the winner of our FREE Microlift promotion launched to celebrate our 40th anniversary - and they are delighted too! Our winner is Widnes Foodbank, a local branch of UK-wide charity The Trussell Trust, which supports people who, temporarily, are unable to feed themselves and their families. The charity gives temporary respite, with enough food to keep those in need going for 3 days. Mark Chapman, General Manager of Stannah Microlifts Ltd, explains: “We had some terrific entries and we would like to say a huge thank you to all those organisations that got in touch. The final choice was all about benefiting the widest number of people. Our Microlift will be supplied and installed for the benefit of Widnes Food Bank, their volunteer workers and the thousands of local people they have helped and will help over the years.” Widnes Foodbank is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and the goodwill of individuals and organisations in its immediate community. Operating out of two-storey premises, it stores more than 10 metric tonnes of long-life foodstuffs that is constantly moved between donators, the stores and the recipients, every day of the year. The premises are not ideal for circulating stock, as half the storage area is upstairs meaning box upon box of supplies has to be carried up and down narrow stairs by their many volunteers. The Microlift will make a huge difference to the logistics of each day and improve the safety of the predominantly retired volunteers who do such an amazing job for their local community. Andy Barritt, Microlift Sales Manager, has recently surveyed the site and reflects on their current operations: “It is quite a task to collect and move the food up and down the narrow stairs, and it’s a continual process. This service lift will be a huge help to the volunteers, minimising the risk of carrying boxes and helping an incredibly worthwhile charity.” Everyone at the Foodbank can’t wait for the lift to be part of their busy day. Clare Woodford, volunteer project co-ordinator, couldn’t be happier with the ‘winning’ news and comments: “Thank you to Stannah for offering such a great opportunity - I never realised I could be so excited and chuffed about winning a lift! It's a big weight off my mind - (and off my volunteers shoulders!) knowing that food donations can be moved around our premises much more safely and easily. Thank you again for such a generous prize." We’ll be following the installation and learning more about the Widnes Foodbank and its operation in our next chapter… in the meantime, congratulations from all the Stannah Microlifts team! - See more at: http://www.stannahlifts.co.uk/news-and-resources/news-centre/593/announcing-our-microlift-winner/#sthash.wjkoobzh.dpuf
