Find The Needle Add My Company
Why this is now the global standard for panel fixings
Attaching a panel to a wall can be achieved by using a split batten, which works surprisingly well. In a yacht tossing on the ocean wave, systems like Velcro have been used which unsurprisingly don't work quite so well. Initially focused on the yachting industry, Fastmount came up with a far better solution: flexible, self-locking hi-tech plastic fasteners which are easy to remove and replace with no loss of fidelity. The system is now ubiquitous - if you're lucky enough to find yourself on an oligarch's yacht chances are the panels will be held in place by Fastmount. (Probably best not to try prising the panels loose to check though, that would be considered bad manners.) Good ideas tend to travel quickly and it was not long before manufacturers in other sectors noticed how easy and reliable Fastmount was to use. The invisible system is not only secure but can cope with curved surfaces, as well as being the easiest way to routinely attach wall panels, whether they are to be periodically removed or not. Whether self tapping, surface mount or screw fixed variants, each clip has a little give in it allowing for flexing and expansion of the panels and contributing to the perfect fit that is essential in today's interiors. In response to demand, the range was added to with low profile, textile and fire rated versions like the VL-03FR emerging. The textile version can be used to affix furniture cushions, headboards or outdoor seating in place when in use and allows for swift removal for maintenance or just if the weather changes. Heavier soft furnishings can now be used in a more robust environment with the TC-F6H, which uses a slide lock to positively secure the cushion. With a break out load of 23kg no special tool or force is required to release the clip. The coarse threaded LP-DF8 self tapping clips can be attached directly plasterboard or dry wall and so can actually be used to attach large wall panels with no further studwork, saving space and having the advantage that non-destructive removal can take place. As the product is designed to flex in use, a feature that makes it easy to work with, it can also offer a degree of acoustic isolation. The surface mounting PC-SM1AC will support light or acoustic panels and the extra flex it has adds to the sound dampening characteristics of the panel. A metal variant has also been designed which can be used in high temperature environments and also withstands vibration well, offering further acoustic dampening qualities. These may prove useful in industrial applications where life can be tough on the average fastener. In all cases Fastmount has thought their product through. Not only is the manufacturing flawless but they also make a well designed and comprehensive range of installation tools to assure the perfect fit they are known for.
