The SDS-100 short arm stay was originally developed for furniture designers who wanted to add motion control to the smaller flaps and doors used in home theatres. It finds a new purpose in yacht manufacture where there are any number of smaller hatches and cubby holes that can benefit from a damped opening mechanism.
Most damped stays are designed for the equivalent of a kitchen cabinet door and so they torque moment is too great to be used on the smaller and non standard sized doors found in yacht interiors. Using the SDS-100 smaller doors can be accommodated whilst maintaining the long duty cycle expected of Sugatsune motion control systems.
