Spooner Employees Get Revenge on Management to Raise Money for Comic Relief - 2013
Over £1500 was raised by employees at Spooner Industries Head Office in West Yorkshire in support of Comic Relief as they took time out to celebrate Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March. A host of fund raising activities including fancy dress competitions, cake baking, a raffle, a name the lamb competition and various games took place, with the highlight and one of the biggest money spinner being the ‘Punish your Manager’ nominations. In the run up to Comic Relief, jars displaying mug shots of the Management Team including Managing Director, Mike Brook; Director, Steve Newell; Manufacturing Manager, Robert Proctor; Technical Manager, Andrew Marson and Financial Controller, John Muggleston were placed on reception for staff to make donations to decide who should receive a bucket of beans over their head. The results were unanimous with the clear favourite, or perhaps least favourite manager, being Steve Newell, whose jar contained a whopping £96, with Robert Proctor taking second place as his jar contained a deserving £56. As consolation 0for coming second, Robert was given the honour of pouring the bucket of beans over Steve’s head! Kate Baker, Marketing Manager for Spooner said: “As a UK manufacturer supplying companies around the world, we are delighted to have raised so much money to help those less fortunate living in some of those countries. Comic Relief also provided a great excuse for Spooner employees to get their own back on the management.”
