20 TIPS FOR SMOOTH PMMA INSTALLATION

Our ALSAN range of liquid waterproofing is suitable for various applications (from waterproofing car parks to refurbishing flat roofs and balconies) and has numerous advantages, such as rapid curing times and ease of application. To make the most of our ALSAN products and ensure the success of your project, keep these twenty PMMA tips in mind that our experts have drawn up for the entire process – from surface preparation to installation. INSTALLING ALSAN LIQUID WATERPROOFING SURFACE PREPARATION FOR PMMA PRODUCTS Properly prepare the area (grinding, shotblasting, …). Remove all traces of contaminants, debris and laitance using a mechanical vacuum system. The surface must be completely dry. With tape, outline the area to be covered with the liquid waterproofing product. ALSAN CHECKLIST BEFORE STARTING PMMA Make sure the type of product and its colour correspond to the needs of the project. Check whether the products have the same batch numbers to cover the entire surface. Ensure that the quantity of product (with an excess 5% to 10%) is sufficient to cover the entire surface. Have all the tools and accessories ready for the installation, such as squeegee, brush, mechanical stirrer, paint rollers, trowel, … Gather the workforce that is necessary to perform the task. Always use the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). TIPS FOR THE PROPER MIXING Create an area to make the mixtures. (Use floor protection.) Mix the catalyst and resin thoroughly. Mix the catalyst and resin evenly before adding any sand or mortar mixtures. Mix homogeneously for a minimum of two minutes using a mechanical stirrer, while being sure to scrape the bottom and edges the container. Just mix the quantity you can apply within 15 to 20 minutes. Avoid contaminating each of the different components between every mixing. Clean the stirrer after each mixture. Always use clean containers when mixing. Reacted material can easily be removed from a plastic bucket. The bucket can be reused. APPLYING ALSAN LIQUID WATERPROOFING Using a roller, spread the resin evenly and in sufficient quantity to embed the fleece. Immediately cover up the fleece with sufficient resin to reach the right thickness. Remove the masking tape before the polymerisation of the resin starts. Clean your tools immediately with a suitable solvent, such as ALSAN 076 cleaners (Greencleaner). Close access to the area and wait for the minimum drying time indicated on the technical data sheet before reopening it to light foot traffic. WANT TO KNOW MORE?
