SOCOMEC UPS Participates 2008 Summer Olympic Games

Socomec UPS China is happy to announce the Beijing Olympic Committee has chosen Socomec UPS for the following events: Olympic Shooting Range, Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Yingdong swimming Hall, Olympic Sports Center Stadium, Shanghai People’s Stadium (for Football), Olympic Forest Park Garden and Olympic Sports Center Garden for the emergency back-up of the lighting control systems. As a result of a power outage at one of the Olympic venues in Beijing this year an audit of the lighting system was undertaken. Following the audit the Organising Committee decided to investigate the use of a Uniterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to protect the lighting system. Socomec’s UPS solution was selected as the units are designed to handle the level of technical requirement needed for the lighting system’s high frequency distortion and very low power factor. Following the success in Beijing the Organising Committee also decided that Socomec UPS would provide the reliable power supply in Shanghai so that viewers around the world can enjoy watching the live football games on TV without interruption. Socomec and its distributors will also provide around-the-clock service and on-call engineers during the entire period of the Olympic Games to ensure the equipment operates to its best performance at all times. Olympic Shooting Range A "forest covered" architectural style shooting range; 10 meter, 25 meter and 50 meter shooting competition will be held here. (Picture) National Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium The recently renovated 17-year-old National Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium with an expansion of 6,300 seats will host the 2008 handball games and final and Paralympics gateball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby etc. With the installation of a MASTERYS UPS in the control room, the games organisers can be confident the games will be free from interruption. ({icture) Yingdong Swimming pool Yingdong swimming pool is located at the Olympic Village inside the National Olympic Sports Center, donated by the late Hong Kong businessman Henry Fok Ying-tung in Beijing's successful bid to host the 1990 Asian Games. (Picture) It was Asia's largest swimming pool with 6,000 sitting capacity. In the 2008 Olympics, water polo and the swimming competitions of the "modern pentathlon" will take place in this complex. It also serves as the training venue for the 2008 Paralympic Games swimming events. Olympic sports center stadium Olympic Sports Center Stadium was built in 1990 for the 11th Asian Games. In 2008, it will host the Modern Pentathlon event. (Picture x2) Shanghai People’s Stadium The Olympic soccer pre-qualifying games will be held in the Shanghai People’s Stadium, which seats 56,000 spectators.
