SOCOMEC UPS commits to the efficiency
Socomec UPS is taking firm steps to protect the climate by helping devise and signing up to the European Code of Conduct (CoC) on the efficiency of uninterruptible power systems. What real impact does the Kyoto Protocol have on the lives of Europe’s citizens, and European industries? Codes of conduct represent one of the responses to Kyoto made by the European Union. They are based on voluntary participation by manufacturers of electronic appliances and others by setting requirements for maximum energy consumption. The Code of Conduct on Energy Efficiency and Quality of AC Uninterruptible Power Systems invites set benchmarks for manufacturers to design equipment to in the future: - to meet minimum performance requirements, focusing particularly on the efficiency of mass-produced three-phase UPS systems marketed from 1st January 2008 onwards - to raise awareness among purchasers and users - to promote the CoC Socomec UPS is proud to be among the first manufacturers in the world to agree to these commitments, see (http://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/energyefficiency/html/AC%20UPS-ParticipantsCoC.htm). The table below summarizes the minimum efficiency requirements measured in accordance with EN 62040-3, during normal operation. Higher energy consumption levels are permissible with additional functions (sinusoidal input current) or options (isolation transformers): Mode UPS range: ≥10 – < 20 kVA UPS range: ≥20 – < 40 kVA UPS range: ≥40 – < 200 kVA UPS range: ≥200 kVA AA Note 3 25 % of nominal 83 % 84 % 86.5 % 89 % power 50 % of nominal 89 % 89,5 % 90.5 % 92 % power 75 % of nominal 90.5 % 91 % 92 % 93 % power 100 % of nominal 91 % 91,5 % 92 % 93 % power With Socomec’s recently launched MATERYS 100-120kVA range, having a 96% efficiency (certified by TÜV SÜD) they clearly show their commitment to the above CoC.
