Following a two-year campaign to attract cruise vessels to Liverpool, Liverpool City Council redeveloped an unused plot adjacent to Pier Head, in front of the landmark Liver Building to build a temporary cruise terminal for use as a turnaround facility for passengers embarking and disembarking on cruises at Liverpool.
Four weeks later, Liverpool welcomed its first ever turnaround cruise as the Ocean Countess set sail from the city
This was a momentous day for the city as the ship was given a huge civic send-off.
