At the forefront of the timber sector – SIPCO were announced as the winners of the ‘Best use of SIPS’ category at the Structural Timber Awards which were held on Wednesday 19 October at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.
SIPCO took on seven other shortlisted companies to scoop the award for their contribution to ’40 Hill Road’ a self build project in Essex.
Pete Barr, Director of SIPCO said of the award win: “It’s fantastic to win this award, especially taking into consideration the high calibre of the competition. This project in particular provide a fantastic platform to showcase the benefits and capabilities of SIP construction!”
The project started life as a small building plot which housed a 1950s bungalow and this has been developed into a remarkable contemporary three storey family home for The Smith family. As the family’s three grown up children live at home, the concept was to create a place of sanctuary where they could all live harmoniously together, yet individually.
The idea behind the design of 40 Hill Road, Essex was to maximise the light within the property and to take advantage of the spectacular views.
