A shear pump is basically a modified centrifugal pump with limited shearing action — good for simple tasks. An In-Line high-shear mixer, by contrast, is built for heavy-duty mixing: emulsifying, homogenising, dissolving solids, powder/liquid dispersions, reaction acceleration, etc. It uses interchangeable work-heads and stators, offers far greater versatility, and usually has higher performance.
