Mercury Spill Kit (2 Applications)With a minimum amount of training this spill kit enables employees to deal safely and effectively with mercury spills. Everything you need is contained in a handy case, with the exception of a mercury vapour protection respirator (as recommended in the HSC procedure). The kit has two disposal units, each containing a mercury aspirator (syringe), scrapers, amalgamating powder, collection sponges, protective aprons and protective nitrile gloves. Additionally the kit contains re-usable items such as the Mercury Spill Warning Card, dampening spray, warning tape and full instructions for use. Everything that is used returned and placed into the disposal unit, which is then sealed with the tape and the whole unit is then disposed of according to Local Authority Regulations or official procedures. The Health & Safety Commission indicate in their publication, Safe Disposal of Clinical Waste (1999), that a mercury vapour mask is to be used when dealing with spills and should be available in areas where mercury containing apparatus is used. Such masks, either full face or half-masks with the correct mercury vapour designation HgP3S2 should be used.
