Although China still holds the leading position in the manufacturing sector, the EU is quickly strengthening its position in the industry. According to Eurostat statistics, Germany is the top country in the EU for industrial production, making up 27% of the total EU manufacturing production. Italy comes in second with 14%, France is in third place, followed by Spain, Poland and the Netherlands. According to the Hit Horizons database there are 2,341,230 companies operating in the Manufacturing industry in Europe, generating a total of €13,333,617,185,162 in sales (£11,143,437,226,327).
