HOW ARE THE BPF GUIDING THE PLASTIC INDUSTRY DURING COVID-19?
During these uncertain times, many industries and manufacturers are stepping in to help with the current pandemic, especially plastics firms who can share their advice and supplies with the medical industry. The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is one of these organisations who are stepping up, to try and help other companies within the industry and most importantly, our medical staff on the frontline. How Exactly is the BPF Helping? Supplies The BPF recently held a survey, subject to COVID-19, to gain an insight into how people feel about the situation and how they could potentially help. 127 firms responded to the survey and many of these have offered their help, supplies and manufacturing facilities to be used to help the situation. Many plastics firms, like packaging companies, have the materials and facilities to help manufacture medical supplies like face shields and ventilators and are currently doing so to aid the high demand for medical supplies. To extend their help, the BPF has a dedicated page on their website, offering a range of information about how health specialists can get hold of these urgent resources, from BPF company members. Support The organisation will also be providing the UK’s plastics industry with advice and support on how they should be acting as a business at this time, but also sharing any knowledge that can help keep them on track. The federation is offering schedules for cleaning and staff interaction, to keep the industry operating, even if it is remotely. The BPF is prioritising reducing the risk to employees in the industry and keeping business operations as normal and as sanitary as possible. Whilst it may not seem like an easy or productive option, many companies are now getting used to working from home and are sharing their advice for other businesses in the industry, to help them operate as efficiently as possible.
