Celebrating 40 Years of Niftylift
In May 2025, Niftylift proudly marked its 40th anniversary — a milestone that reflects not just how far we’ve come, but also the values, people, and partnerships that have shaped our journey. To celebrate, we welcomed suppliers and customers to our Shenley Wood headquarters in Milton Keynes for a two-day event, culminating in a gala dinner where we premiered a commemorative video telling the Niftylift story. We’re now delighted to share that video publicly for the first time.
From Garden Shed to Global Success
Founded in 1985 by Roger Bowden, Niftylift began life in a garden shed in Bedfordshire, where Roger designed a lightweight, 12-metre trailer-mounted boom lift. Still in production today, that first machine sparked widespread interest and quickly transformed a small hire business into a world-class manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
Today, Niftylift employs more than 550 people, operates manufacturing sites across the UK, has offices in the US and Europe, and works with export partners in over 70 countries. Our machines are known worldwide for being compact, lightweight, high-performance, and delivering exceptional reach, reliability, and return on investment.
Innovation That Matters
Innovation has always been at the heart of what we do. From our first self-propelled HeightRider model in 1988 to pioneering operator safety systems such as SiOPS® and ClipOn, we’ve consistently developed intuitive solutions that protect users and boost productivity.
We were also the first to bring a true parallel hybrid system to the MEWP market, and our latest Hydrogen-Electric range is another world-first — delivering zero-emission performance through hydrogen fuel cell technology, making it perfect for low-carbon construction sites.
People First, Always
Our success is built on strong relationships — with our suppliers, dealers, customers, and the dedicated teams across every department. We’re proud of our award-winning apprenticeship and graduate programmes, our investment in automation and training, and our outreach work with schools and STEM initiatives to inspire the next generation of engineers.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate 40 years of Niftylift, we remain focused on the future. We will continue to invest in sustainable growth, develop market-leading products, and refine our processes with one clear mission: to make working at height safer, smarter, and more sustainable.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey so far — here’s to the next chapter.
