The lead addition lifts machinability dramatically, helping chip breakage, lowering tool wear and making the alloy well suited to precision turned parts that still need strength, conductivity and fatigue performance. Medical connectors often mix tight tolerances with the need for durable conductive materials. In short, it is aimed at components that must keep doing their job after heat, wear, vibration or repeated cycling have had their say.
