NAYLOR EMPLOYEE REACHES 60 YEAR MILESTONE
John Lockwood, an employee of Barnsley based Naylor Drainage retired at Christmas after clocking up a remarkable 60 years' service. Lockwood was born in 1941- just 9 days before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. He joined Naylor in December 1956, aged 15, working at Naylor's former fittings plant at Denby Dale before moving to the Cawthorne works when the two sites were amalgamated in 1993. He has held a variety of roles right across Naylor's Clay Drainage business, latterly working in mould manufacture and in quality control. To celebrate his retirement, the Naylor Board held a reception at Cawthorne at which three generations of his family were present including his wife Margaret; he was presented with a special medal to recognise his 60 years' service. Naylor Chief Executive Edward Naylor commented "I feel truly humbled by John's amazing achievement- he has been working for Naylor for 6 years longer than I have been alive! He has been a model employee and we are immensely grateful for his hard work over 6 decades".
