BRYAN HERTA AUTOSPORT - TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP
Oils containing nanotechnology will be used for the first time in the IndyCar series as Millers Oils begins work with Bryan Herta Autosport. The deal includes all BHA entries including the Barracuda Racing IndyCar team, F1600 and Indy Lights. The goal of the partnership is to increase performance and efficiency by reducing frictional losses. The oils will be a further development of the company’s Nanodrive products, which have been proven in motorsport and automotive applications. The agreement was officially signed in October and development work on formulations has already begun. Reducing frictional losses in both the powertrain and transmission will not only release more power but will also reduce running temperatures, thus creating a significant aerodynamic benefit from reduced cooling air flow requirements. BHA and Millers Oils will be conducting tests to validate which formulations provide the maximum benefit. About Bryan Herta Autosport Founded by veteran driver Bryan Herta and noted race engineer and team manager Steve Newey, Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) has been a race-winning team in Firestone Indy Lights competition since 2009 and recently won the 2011 Indianapolis 500 with driver Dan Wheldon in only its second IZOD IndyCar Series start.
