Norma Davies Opticians In Cowbridge

Mewscraft was contacted by Norma and Henri Lloyd Davies of Norma Davies Opticians to propose a design for their new premises in Cowbridge. The premises was originally a sweet shop and it was important to produce a design that was in keeping with the look of the small but fashionable market town and as a result of a constant and consistent communication line with Norma and Henri, a modern but contemporary design was agreed upon, with coloured influences taken from their corporate colours and logo. As new premises the design required new test and pre-test rooms as well as incorporating the existing staff areas leaving a generous space for the retail and dispensing areas. After visiting our showroom Norma and Henri chose some fantastic LED shelving units from our Concept.s range as well as discussing the design of some unique bespoke shelving and storage units. Once the design, displays and furniture were confirmed it was up to Mewscraft to bring it to life. This required us to install new partitioning, ceiling, lighting, flooring, electrics and decoration throughout the practice. With the work starting in mid-October we were given a very generous timescale for the practice to be open in time for the Christmas parade at the end of November. This timescale gave us the opportunity to stagger the works over the 6 week period with the building work and construction of the new rooms starting promptly along with the rest of the required services. After 10 days on site the premises had been completely transformed with a bright new look that was open and airy with complimenting wallpaper. The couple of weeks break allowed Norma and Henri time to install and test all their required equipment ready for the new displays and furniture to be put in place. A further 2 days allowed us to fit the displays and beautiful new furniture, with its light grey wood grain effect worktops. The new LED shelving units provided a feature for some high end frames whilst glass top drawers acted as display and storage. This was complimented well by a bespoke glass top showcase display. After 6 weeks, with a total of only 12 days on site the whole practice had been transformed and Norma and Henri Lloyd Davies were delighted with the new look. They were open with time to spare for the annual Christmas parade through Cowbridge. Duration on site: 12 days
