Glasgow Caledonian University gave us the brief of transforming their working eye clinic. The eye clinic provides clinical training facilities for up to 120 optometrists and 30 dispensing opticians annually, making it a busy environment with considerable foot fall. We were asked to develop a design that was clinical and modern to completely change their existing space within a minimal timescale. We produced a design to maximise the functionality of the space and to meet the everyday needs of the clinic, with a clean contemporary look. We used the Linear LED shelving displays from our Concept S range, these worked really well to compliment the overall feel of the space and to create bold eye catching displays within the dispensing area. We used an oak finish to create a contrast with the gloss white within the bespoke furniture. We focussed on the details of the furniture to emphasise the contemporary look, with features such as the metal edging around the dispensing desks. We built out the two existing columns to form LED cubes, to display feature frames and provide a subtle division between the dispensing area and reception area. LED lighting as used to highlight the wall mounted shelving displays. The finished scheme met the initial brief and developed it to provide a clean clinical look for a fully functional eye clinic. The lecturers and students are extremely happy with the finished design. Duration on site: 4 Days + 3 Weeks building work
