Long radius bends are used to give a longer, more sweeping curve when changing direction in a drainage system. This makes inspection and cleaning a simpler task, and is less likely to cause a blockage than a short radius bend. The 45 degree version is most commonly used in a horizontal change of direction. 87.5 degree long radius bends are often found at the foot of a soil stack, particularly in multi-storey applications.
