Marley Eternit Profiles Its Roof Sheeting Design
Marley Eternit profiles its roof sheeting design guide. For the first time ever, Marley Eternit has compiled a single design guide for all of its fibre cement profiled sheeting systems for architects, designers and planners. The company has manufactured these systems for more than 90 years and has drawn on its expertise in combining Portland cement with water, then reinforced with natural and synthetic fibres, to become the UK’s largest manufacturer of fibre cement roofing and cladding products. The 60-page A4 full colour guide advises specifiers on products, systems, design detailing, ventilation and rainwater goods as well as storage and handling, site preparation and safety, model specifications, supply, and availability and ordering. All the sheets are low-maintenance and resistant to fire (Class 0), weather, rot and vermin as well as having high levels of vapour permeability to reduce condensation and corrosion providing increased longevity. Available in a wide range of colours and accessories, the sheets also give excellent acoustic insulation and are easy to install and fix, with Profile 6 meeting the latest Health and Safety requirements for roof safety. It does this by running polypropylene reinforcement strips at precisely engineered locations along the length of the sheet to provide maximum impact strength without compromising the integrity of the product. Designed for roof pitches of 5º and over and for vertical cladding in both single skin and insulated constructions, it is available in four standard colours and an extended range of more than 30 colours as well as a Farmscape finish where the top layer of the substrate is impregnated with colour during the production process for a more natural affect. More suitable for smaller structures in the agricultural, industrial and domestic sectors such as garages, general purpose sheds and smaller buildings is Profile 3 which is even easier to handle and fix on roof pitches of 10º and over. Both Profile 6 and 3 are also available in an extended range of 33 colours or almost any British standard colour subject to minimum order quantities of 250m². In addition to the sheets themselves, the Fastflo rainwater system was developed with a deep profile to provide high flow capacity for agricultural, industrial and domestic use. Manufactured in self-coloured PVCu, the range is lightweight, corrosion resistant and virtually maintenance free throughout its life. As well as the different products, the design guide also advises on setting out, mitring, fixing, wind loadings and lap treatments. Advice on design details such as cranked and two-piece ridges, eaves bend sheets and closure pieces, bargeboards, translucent sheets, movement joints, vertical cladding and rainwater goods is also given in a dedicated section. The differences between and options for ventilation requirements for agricultural (four systems) and industrial applications (one dedicated system) are also explained since this is a vital factor in a building’s design, particularly where the welfare of livestock is concerned.
