Hollo-Bolt was used on Roofs due to Wind Load Capacities
Lindapter's Hollo-Bolt was specified for securing the new platform roofs during the station refurbishment at Berlin Ostkreuz, the busiest interchange station on the Berlin S-Bahn. The S-Bahn is Germany's rapid transit railway system, the 'S' refers to both Stadt (city) and schnell (fast). The contractor researched several connection methods for strength and reliability in order to find the best connection solution for coping with vibrations from trains passing by at high speeds and wind loads due to the open design of the platforms. After thoroughly evaluating the connection options, the engineer concluded that Lindapter’s CE Marked Hollo-Bolt should be used because of its high load capacities and its range of independent product approvals. Hollo-Bolt by Lindapter is the only expansion bolt for structural steel that is fully approved by ICC-ES for use in all seismic design categories for resisting wind loads and seismic loads. Therefore, the engineers were sure that the Hollo-Bolt would provide a secure and durable connection to suit the varying wind loads at the station. Further reassurance was provided by Lindapter’s experience gained over the course of 80 years’ pioneering the design and manufacture of steelwork fixings.
