Laser safety experts Lasermet welcome the ELI ALPS study tour from Hungary
Lasermet are pleased to have hosted the visit from the ELI ALPS business study group on 16th July 2014 to the Lasermet manufacturing and design facility in Bournemouth. UKTI ELI ALPS HUNGARY BUSINESS STUDY TOUR The visit was accompanied by Chris Hurne from the UKTI Trade & Investment team (which organised the event). The ELI delegates included the Head of the Scientific Engineering Division, members of the Safety and Radio Protection Group, Beam Transfer Group, and the Electrical Engineering Group Leader. The purpose of the highly successful meeting was to establish a working relationship between the leading laser safety manufacturer in the UK and the ELI ALPS team members. The Attosecond Light Pulse Source (ALPS) research centre will be used to study electron dynamics on the femto and attosecond scale in atoms, molecules, plasmas and biological samples. What is an Attosecond? According to Wikipedia, "an attosecond is an SI unit of time equal to 10−18 of a second. (one quintillionth of a second). For context, an attosecond is to a second what a second is to about 31.71 billion years, or more than twice the age of the universe".
