Scaffold for Painting House Exteriors and Interiors: Best Options, Heights & Types
Choosing the right scaffold for painting depends on whether the work is inside or outside, how high the surface is and how easily the equipment can be positioned around the building. Mobile aluminium towers suit many residential decorating jobs because they provide a stable platform that can be repositioned as work moves along the wall.

A typical two-storey house will usually need a working height of approximately 6-7m to reach upper walls, gutters and eaves comfortably. Single-storey properties often need a 4-5m working height, while most internal decorating can be handled with a lower tower that fits through standard doorways. The tower should allow the decorator to work without stretching or standing above the recommended platform position.

More complicated buildings can require a different solution. Cantilever or bridge arrangements may be needed around conservatories and extensions, stair towers suit stepped areas, and GRP towers are appropriate where electrical risks make a conductive aluminium tower unsuitable.

For most short-term decorating work, hiring makes it possible to select the height and tower type for the actual project rather than compromising with equipment that happens to be available.
