Adequate screening against R.F.I. and E.M.I. is of vital importance on cables connecting computer ancillaries. It has always been particularly difficult to achieve in coiled leads as the coiling process tends to disturb the screening medium and create unwanted gaps. A belt and braces approach, i.e. metallised tape and braid or spiral screen, is one answer, but can be relatively expensive.
