Local MP Visits J+S Aberdeen

J+S Ltd’s Aberdeen based Oil and Gas engineering services provider, recently hosted a visit by Liberal Democrat MP for Gordon, Rt Hon Malcolm Bruce and took the opportunity to discuss the progress the company has made in the Oil and Gas and Marine Renewables markets in the last year. Within the Oil and Gas market, J+S is currently developing a bespoke fluid monitoring package to be used in a zone 0 area, requiring specialist sensors, packaging, and communications. In the Marine Renewables market place, J+S has developed a pressure compensated splice housing, which has been fitted at the EMEC (European Marine Energy Centre) wave and tidal hub sites situated off the Orkney Islands. This housing is in effect the plug and socket to the shore cables from which electricity generated by wave and tidal energy device manufacturers will be transferred to the shore electricity sub-station. Commenting on the visit, Matt Blair, Director Oil and Gas said: “We met Malcolm at the SubseaUK Reception at the Houses of Parliament earlier in the year when he expressed an interest in our Oil & Gas and Renewables operations. An open invitation was extended and we were pleased that he was able to find time to visit us. We believe that the meeting was a success in showing what we can provide for the market.” Malcolm is Chair of the House of Commons International Development Select Committee and was interested in international opportunities for companies like J+S in the energy markets. He stressed that he valued the feedback provided by companies operating in the energy market and was keen to elicit future dialogue from J+S.
