J+S Looks East

J+S has recently exhibited at two major exhibitions in the Far East. In late May the Defence team displayed their products at IMDEX a major show and conference held annually in Singapore and early in June the Oil & Gas team travelled to Kuala Lumpur to exhibit at the Oil & Gas Asia show. At IMDEX there was considerable interest in the Company’s innovative Low Profile Array developments and as a result the J+S team have returned home with a number of leads to follow up in the Asia Pacific region. Commenting on the exhibition Engineering Director Eric Abretti stated: “This has been a really busy show for J+S and with an exciting product offering such as the Low Profile Array (LPA) we have been able to tap in to a very strong market demand in the region for towed and static arrays to be deployed from much smaller vessels such as coastal patrol boats. Previously it hasn’t realistically been possible to deploy towed arrays from anything smaller than a Frigate. A lot of the Navies in the region operate primarily in-shore with much smaller vessels but they do need to be able to detect submarine activity in their waters. The LPA will satisfy this requirement.” The Oil & Gas Asia show was the first foray into Oil & Gas marketing in the region for J+S and generated considerable interest from both Sub-sea engineering companies and the Oil & Gas producers in the region. Commenting on the exhibition Oil& Gas Director Matt Blair said: “As we have developed our position in providing sub-system design and build packages in support of new field developments and step out programmes in the North Sea we felt there was a strong need in the Malaysian market for this engineering service. I am delighted with the response we have received from exhibiting at the show and I hope that we will be in a position to partner with other Sub-sea engineering companies in the region and develop a direct presence in Malaysia in the coming months.” Managing Director David Jeffries who also attended the Oil & Gas Asia show commented on the need to develop J+S business in the Far East: “As an SME we are well aware of the need to develop our export market potential in a managed and structured way. I have long been enthusiastic about opportunities in the Far East for J+S and the response we have received from exhibiting at these two shows has strengthened my resolve to enter the Far East markets with both our Defence and Oil & Gas businesses. We will now develop our strategies for these markets which I am sure will encompass working with Partners, Agents and most importantly establishing a direct J+S presence in the region. Over the last four years we have developed a very strong UK business backed up with some export success in the Defence markets.
