J+S and EMEC Make the Connection

Barnstaple and Aberdeen based Marine Renewables, Defence and Oil & Gas engineering business, J+S Ltd, has installed and tested seven J+S qualified electrical splice housings at the EMEC Wave & Tidal test facility off the Orkney Isles. The successful deployment of the J+S splice housings assists EMEC in achieving their stated goal "To be the internationally acknowledged leading test and certification centre for marine energy converters." J+S has provided a fully qualified solution to enable device developers to connect electrically to the Wave & Tidal site infrastructure at the EMEC facility. Commenting on the successful deployment, Chris Napier, General Manager Renewables said: “This is a great achievement for J+S and specifically the installation team who carried out the deployment in ever changing weather conditions at the EMEC facility in Orkney. We are proud to have completed this project successfully, which strengthens J+S’ position as a designer, manufacturer and installer to the Marine Renewables market” J+S has further splice housings to install at EMEC this autumn on the remaining cables at both the Wave & Tidal site. J+S is already working with Wave & Tidal developers to assist them with connection to the EMEC facility as well as supporting other development and engineering requirements.
