Total Acid Number Measurement: Laboratory Instrument

The Micro TAN Titrator was designed in consultation with the industry and provides improved health and safety and environmental considerations. Oils react with atmospheric oxygen and produce oxidation products that are acidic. Total Acid Number (TAN) is a measurement of both the weak organic and the stronger inorganic acids that may be present in the oil. It is an important measurement of the quality of crude oil indicating potential corrosion problems. It is also a useful measurement in lubrication oils where higher temperatures can speed up oxidation reactions and increase acid levels. This titrator uses a reduced sample volume thus making a saving of up to 75% of the volume of organic solvent used, so dramatically reducing the cost per test.
