Total Acid Number Measurement: Laboratory Instrument

The Micro TAN titrator measures both the weak organic and the stronger inorganic acids that may be present in oils. Oils react with atmospheric oxygen and produce oxidation products that are acidic. The Total Acid Number (TAN) is an important measurement of the quality of crude oil indicating potential corrosion problems. It is also a useful measurement in lubrication oils where higher temperatures can speed up oxidation reactions and increase acid levels. Designed in consultation with the industry, the Micro TAN Titrator provides improved health and safety and environmental considerations. Using a reduced sample volume, there is a saving of up to 75% of the volume of organic solvent used, dramatically reducing the cost per test.
