Oil in Water Analyser for Side Stream Measurements
Improved oil in water measurements. The EX-100 was introduced in 2005 and, due to the patented ultrasonic cleaning technique, was the first oil in water analyser that did not require routine maintenance. Both the EX-100 and the EX-1000 use a laser induced UV fluorescence technique to determine oil in water concentrations, to monitor water pollution. The EX-1000 includes an integrated spectrometer, allowing identification of different oil contamination types. This is useful in applications where various compressor oils, lubrication oils or a combination of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons are present. The EX-1000 alerts the operator to the changing conditions. A reference calibration can be stored in the instrument for each of the oil types present. These systems from Advanced Sensors have been able to operate in hazardous areas for many years with zero maintenance. The EX-100 and the EX-1000 can monitor from low ppb to 20,000 ppm oil and are well suited to monitoring oil in water levels prior to discharge or re-injection. This version of the analyser continuously measures a sample stream (or side stream) from the main process line. This allows valves to be closed automatically to homogenise the sample (using ultrasonics) and make highly accurate and uniform readings. In addition to cleaning, the ultrasonic system is used to homogenise the sample, ensuring that oil droplet size is the same throughout the sample, which improves the repeatability of the measurement.
