About Us

The ICURe programme is funded by Innovate UK and delivered by a consortium of partners. Innovate UK is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and has a brief to use public funding to accelerate innovation across the UK in all sectors and geographies. The ICURe programme was started in 2013 and based on the National Science Federation I-Corps programme in the United States. The programme was developed and run by SETsquared, led by the University of Southampton. SETsquared is a dynamic collaboration between the six leading research-intensive UK universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey. In 2017 the programme was joined by two more delivery partners, NxNW led by Queens University Belfast, and Midlands ICURe, led by Warwick University. In total over 450 project teams have been on the ICURe journey, spanning over 38 cohorts.
