OFFSHORE TEAM ROLLS INTO DYCE, ABERDEEN
Houlder has announced a move to a larger facility within Dyce, Aberdeen. The new premises, which comprise a two-storey office space, warehouse and fabrication yard are home to over 20 engineering professionals and project staff. The new base was selected for its flexibility and improved transport links. It serves as a hub to support Houlder’s growing network of global operations. The Houlder name can now be seen in lights from the runway at Aberdeen Airport and the office is a short walk from the terminal. The move is the result of an increase in the scale and variety of work the company is undertaking during a welcome upturn in business. Formerly operating from Aberdeen Science and Energy Park in Bridge of Don, Houlder provides a wide range of design, engineering, manpower and construction services to the offshore & energy industry. Chief Executive Officer Rupert Hare commented “We have responded to our clients’ renewed need for flexibility and responsiveness. Having new premises, with the addition of a yard, means we can deliver more projects and services under one roof including fabrication and assembly.” Houlder services include engineering, procurement and construction services from survey and specification through to installation and commissioning. It can deploy a wide range of proven disciplines – including mechanical, electrical and structural engineers, piping and CAD designers and construction trades to support client projects. The company will continue to deploy trade teams globally from their new home. Rupert continues “Given the local market’s renewed sense of optimism, it felt the right time to make an investment in, and statement of confidence about, our presence in Aberdeen. We have a thirty-year track record of work at the heart of the UK’s offshore industry and look forward to thirty more.” Alongside its core Oil & Gas work, Houlder has supplied innovative installation equipment to the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), Scotland’s largest offshore wind test and demonstration facility located in Aberdeen bay. The company also designed Caledonian MacBrayne’s Glen Sannox, the Scottish Isles’ first UK LNG dual ferry and is working closely with industry leaders to develop more LNG-as-fuel infrastructure. Rupert concludes “We are now settled in our new home and look forward to welcoming colleagues and clients. We are excited to continue playing a key role in the local supply chain from such a prime Aberdeen location.” Houlder’s new address is Houlder House, 1 International View, ABZ Business Park, Dyce, Aberdeen, AB21 08J.
