Description Thermotec Mini 4 and 5kw mini heat pumps are  designed specifically for above ground pools which will can give you extended season use so you can use it from April to October each year (providing it has properly been sized for your pool). The built in defrost function allows it to work in air temperatures as low as -7c ! Koi Ponds We do not recommend that the Thermotec Mini are used on koi ponds. As they are a mini heat pump, the heat output will reduce in very cold weather and will probably be insufficient to heat a koi pond in winter.For koi ponds, we recommend using the Thermotec Inverter heat pumps which work to -15c and can be used all year. They also have larger evaporators (fins) and so can extract more heat in cold weather. 2.
