Sat Nav Housing and Bracket

Sat Nav Housing Hmtooling was asked by one of its customers to supply prototype tooling to produce a Sat -Nav Housing unit and its base / cradle unit. The Tools were made from high grade aluminium to reduce machining time and costs. This was the perfect choice of materials because only a few hundred parts were needed and the quality of the product could not be compromised. The cavities were machined directly into the bolster plates then semi polished before vapour honed with a heavy grit to get the desired finish. The cradle / base was machined in a separate tool and consisted of two parts. This allowed the main screen to be removed easily leaving the docking station fixed. Materials used for parts was ABS, coloured with a masterbatch to a specific shade of grey.
