To estimate pond volume, multiply the maximum length by the maximum width by the maximum depth in metres, then by 1,000 for litres. A 6m x 4m x 1m pond comes out at around 24,000 litres. It is a maximum figure, so sloped sides will reduce the real volume.
Gordon Low Products offers a Pond Liner Estimator that works out sheet size and pond volume from your length, width and depth. It is a planning tool only. Always measure the finished excavation with a flexible tape before you buy.
