EWFM supporting LNG and LPG transfer
LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas Is Natural Gas in a liquefied state. This is achieved by reducing the temperature of the gas down to about −163 °C (−260 °F). This makes the LNG easier to store and transport as the volume is greatly reduced. Specially designed cryogenic road tankers and ships are used to transport LNG. Primarily LNG is used to simplify the transport of natural gas from its source to its destination where it is returned to a gas and pushed into the natural gas pipeline infrastructure. LNG is also used in vehicles, particularly large trucks, and ships. LNG as a shipping fuel can help significantly reduce the environmental impacts of maritime transport due to less air polluting emissions. Maritime transport is increasingly being seen as a good alternative to land-based transport due to the world’s long coastlines and large number of coastal ports. Clearly the market is growing, the number of ports offering LNG bunkering facilities is growing, and the number of LNG powered ships is growing. Also oil companies are adding this media to their portfolios. LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas Is a mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons produced from natural gas and oil extraction and from oil refining. This flammable gas is also known as propane or butane. It is used as fuel in vehicles, heating appliances and cooking equipment. Mainly supplied in cylinders it has a wide range of uses in many markets such as domestic, hospitality, agricultural, sailing, fishing and construction. It can serve as fuel for water heating, central heating and cooking and is a particularly efficient and cost effective way to heat homes not on the grid. Let’s take a look at a few products that EWFM can offer to this market: Loading Arms Specifically for LPG, EWFM supply the Triple Range Bottom Loading Arm – Model 2503-BC-LPG which has five swivel joints giving it full vertical and horizontal rotation. It has a safety breakaway coupling which prevents spillage and a spring balance system for ease of movement. Available in Carbon Steel, Low Temperature Steel and Stainless Steel in sizes 2”x1½”, 2”x2”, 3”x2” and 3”x3”. Swivel Joints EWFM supply the whole range of cryogenic swivel joints. Be it a standard Swivel joint with low temperature seals or a large bore engineered swivel joint with nitrogen purges. Send us your requirements and we will recommend a solution. Cryogenic Couplings The EWFM Cryogenic Couplings have been designed to operate at temperatures of -163°C and -196°C where safety, ease of use and reliability are paramount. The Cryogenic Coupling is made up of two parts – a Hose Unit and a Tank Unit. Operation is a single action using a straight forward tuning motion to connect the couplings and open the flow path. They are in available in Stainless Steel in sizes 1” to 8”. Breakaway Couplings Safety Breakaway Couplings have been successfully used to prevent pull-away accidents in the petroleum, chemical and LPG industries all over the world. The Cryogenic version can work at -200°C and EWFM can supply either and Industrial or Marine version. They are in available in Stainless Steel in sizes 1” to 10”. Industrial Cryogenic Breakaway coupling is typically installed on to a loading arm or hose assembly where at least one side is attached to a fixed point. Marine Cryogenic Breakaway coupling is designed to only release by inline pull only and is used between two lengths of hose.
