The government has made £150m to help schools refurbish kitchens to provide free school meals for all children in year 1 and year 2 under its Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) programme. Warning! Hundreds of schools are yet to place orders and stand to be unprepared when the September deadline arrives. The majority of commercial ovens are made in Italy and August closedowns are looming which will compound the problem. We are trying our best to accommodate all orders by pre-ordering stock to arrive early August but last minute orders may well use up all the free stock, so Distributors are advised to place orders as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The majority of ovens supplied to schools have been 10 racks but a 7 and a 5 rack oven is also available in both electric and gas. Furthermore the Giorik Magnifico oven supports both 600 x 400 shelves as well as 1/1 gastronorm.
