Freight Industry Insights June 2025
With summer holidays on the horizon, June is always a busy month, but this June especially has been an incredibly busy one for us here at Espace.
As well as our usual workload, a special project of 168 full loads from the UK out to various European destinations kept our operational, customs and accounts teams healthily stretched.
Added to our exceptional workload were two highlights in the freight and logistics calendar, the biennial Transport Logistic fair in Munich, Germany and closer to home, MultiModal at the NEC in Birmingham.

Travelling to southern Germany is always a treat and when combined with trucks (for a person with freight in their blood) must be close to a heavenly experience?
Transport Logistic 2025 reaffirmed its status as the worlds leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. The event this year hosted 2,722 exhibitors from across 73 countries and welcomed over 77,000 visitors from more than 130 nations.
The focus of the event was on three areas at the centre of our strategic direction, Digitalisation and AI, Sustainability and Cybersecurity. My colleagues (Ed and Cyril) and I took full advantage of three full days of research and networking with contacts old and recent from the US, Germany, Poland, Romania, China, Australia and India. It really was an unbeatable opportunity.
Mid-June brought with it the chance to join our trade association, BIFA, to exhibit our services at MultiModal. Having missed last year, we were incredibly excited at the vibe across three energy filled days. Thinking about MultiModal events over the last 10 years, the attendees have changed significantly. From supply chain managers looking to find new relationships with logistics providers in the early days, to businesses scrabbling for customs agents to now where the logistics community come together, looking to collaborate and benefit from each other’s strengths. At each stage, the main theme of MultiModal has been reflective of the times we’re in.
The real highlight of the month however was the chance to take the entire team away to celebrate 25 years of trading, Employee Ownership Day and use the weekend for our annual team building event. Arriving early Friday evening at Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire for dinner and a drink or two (hands up the 5AM crew!) we took full advantage of the following day with laser clay pigeon shooting, bungee hungry-hippos and for those daring enough, freefall pillow jumping. Needless to say the coach journey home was quieter than the one going!
Planning has already begun for the other big event of the year (I can’t bring myself to type the C word just yet).
I’ll finish this month by wishing “safe travels” to anyone starting their well-earned holidays in July.
