BSI Accreditation – What Does It Mean?

The BSI has a history of helping to identify quality and trustworthy products to the public. The History of the BSI The BSI was first set up in 1901 and was known at the time as the Engineering Standards Committee. In 1903 the logo known as the ‘Kitemark’® was created as the representation as the British Standard. In 1929 the Engineering Standards Committee was granted a Royal Charter and two years later changed its name to what we now know it as: The British Standards Institution. The BSI also contributed to the formation of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in 1946 and is partly responsible for a range of ISO standards that are now used internationally, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. These detail quality management systems and environmental management systems respectively. Our BSI Certification Dorsetware holds a BSI and ISO certification of 9001:2008 which details that we have met the requirements for a quality management system of an organisation that is both able to consistently provide products that meet statutory and customer requirements, as well as working towards continually improving our practices to deliver a superior service.
