Water Filtration Tank - Case Study
Water Filtration Tank – Case Study 1.The base of the tank has sumps in place and interlocking supports underneath to give it that extra stability. It took 4 members of the Doncaster plastics team to lift one wall of the tank, it was that heavy. 2.After the sides were up we started to fit the internal ladders which could not be made of steel due to corrosion so were made from polypropylene instead. 3.After the ladders were fitted the baffles were inserted into place, these were key aspects if the tank was going to be fit for its purpose. 4.After the structure of the tank had been completed the work on the outside began. The water inlets and outlets were added. The flanges for these we cut on our CNC machine. 5.This is the tank completely finished. It now has a galvanized steel frame for extra support and a lid which is split into three sections it can be lifted off with greater ease. 6.This is the tank on the Hiab, ready to be relocated to its new home. One Day in 2010 Doncaster Plastics were approached by a high profile technology company and asked if we could produce a tank that was going to be used in a process to filter precious metals from water. We worked along side this company offering our knowledge and experience to help them find the best materials and methods to produce this tank. After all of the designs had been finalized this tank spent three weeks in the production process. It totaled 7.8 meters long, 2.1 meters wide and 2.5 meters tall. The tank had to be removed from our workshop with a Rigid Hiab. It wasn’t until it was on the back of the transport that we realized just how large it was.
