Gleneagle Sruss System
The trapezoidal shape of the metal goings and risers has been selected to reduce the span of the glass treads whilst keeping the flanges on the outer perimeter and there is scope for altering this geometry, including the possibility of openings. The trussed solution uses the rigid geometry of a succession of triangles to provide an efficient shear link between the upper and lower flanges of the staircase stringer. The glass treads will be made out of three laminates of toughened glass so that sufficient bending capacity is maintained. The staircase will be connected to the main building at the top, the bottom and the mid-span. It would be preferable for the staircase to connect to the surroundings columns.
