Early installation of Barrial Z delivers programme and cost benefits on UK healthcare project

Dani Alu (UK) Limited has successfully delivered early installation of its Barrial Z permanent edge protection system on a UK healthcare project, enabling improved site safety, programme efficiencies and cost savings during the construction phase.

The Barrial Z system was installed well in advance of the roofing works, providing permanent edge protection while the wider build continued. This approach allowed temporary edge protection and scaffolding to be removed earlier than planned, helping maintain momentum on site and reducing the need for costly temporary roofing solutions.

To protect the handrail during construction, the aluminium system was fully wrapped with pipe protection, allowing multiple trades to work safely around the installation without risk of damage. This ensured the permanent system remained in place throughout the build, while maintaining compliance and protecting the finished components.

The installation included 368 linear metres of Barrial Z, top-fixed to parapet walls in a mill finish aluminium, providing guarding around lightwells opening into internal courtyards.

By adopting an early installation strategy for permanent edge protection, the project team achieved a safer working environment while delivering measurable programme and cost benefits over the course of the build.
