Barrial Freestanding specified for rooftop safety at Base Building, Manchester Science Park

The rooftop of the Base Building at Manchester Science Park has been fitted with Dani Alu UK's Barrial Freestanding guardrail system to provide safe maintenance access around plant equipment and a substantial solar panel array.

The project required collective fall protection without fixings penetrating the roof membrane. Barrial Freestanding uses a weighted system to hold the guardrail securely in place, protecting the roof's waterproofing integrity while allowing access for maintenance personnel.

To complement the building's external detailing, the guardrail was powder coated in RAL 8000 Green Brown. The finish helps integrate the safety installation with the wider architecture of the commercial development.

The completed project combines non-penetrating rooftop edge protection with practical access to the building's rooftop services and solar infrastructure.
