The aim of Immediate Life Support is to train personnel in simple airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and safe defibrillation which enables them to manage patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of the emergency services or a cardiac team.
Main learning objectives:
Be able to assess an incident
Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty, including AED & CPR
Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
Understand basic life support needs
Be able to demonstrate basic life support methods and automated external defibrillator use in line with current national guidelines
Be able to manage an airway
Be able to demonstrate post-resuscitation methods
Be able to carry out basic user maintenance and troubleshoot problems on an automated external defibrillator
Understand medical emergencies and the treatment needed including: Asthma, Anaphylactic shock, Diabetes, Hyperventilation, Seizures and Epilepsy and Sepsis
The certificate is valid for 1 year.
